Seeking Him

I've been on an extremely specific journey with God for the past nine months. It's been exciting, nerve racking, fun, scary and every emotion in between. Through a  three week fast in January, I continued to hear Him say, 'Guatemala.' I was pumped! I just knew He was calling me to move and serve in Guatemala. What an adventure and perfect timing. My youngest would be heading off to college in August (which has it's own emotions attached to that in and of itself) and I could live a life of serving on the mission field. It was and still is my passion to serve and a calling I would embrace!

Multiple trips to Guatemala came over the next few months along with confirmation and acceptance from the ministry in Guatemala.  This family embraced me with open arms. The planning began. The house was put on the market months before because I thought I was to 'down size' since my daughter was moving. Everything I owned became items that were for sale, the car, furniture, riding lawnmower, tools...everything. Nothing was important to keep anymore except my family pictures.

As time has continues on, I sit and wait. Sit and wait for the car and house to sell.

Nothing.

'God, what are you doing? I am continuing to seek You. I don't understand.'

'Family. Be here for your family.' He tenderly whispered to me.

Mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor and my daughter is headed out of state for college. I am to be here for my family and continue to wait on the Lord.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27: 13-14

I don't admit that I know every step that I am to take but I am humbly seeking Him in every area. In my personal walk, for my family, in ministry, in Go4Him. All of it is His.

So that is what I am doing... Seeking Him and Waiting for the Lord.

Are Your Words Like Honey?

After a long day working at DAR, it's now pitch black and I am currently sitting at a table in Retalhuleu, a city in Guatemala. The sounds around me are peaceful...rain dripping off of the canopy, birds still chirping, frogs croaking, and then all of a sudden a loud squawk of a bird that sounds like a goose, echoing all around - annoying; then a car alarm - sounds of warning; then a police siren -authority.

What kind of sound are you? What do your words sound like when they come out of your mouth? Are they like honey dripping off the comb? Are you a peaceful chirp, happy and content or do you gripe and complain - squawking like a goose? Do your words warn others of danger because you have been in the Word and in His presence, understand spiritual things around you?

Words can bring life or death. Proverbs 16:24 says, "Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones."

"How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" Psalm 119:103

I pray you and I will choose our words carefully today so they will display the Lord's character. Words that are sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Is the Power of Jesus the Same Here as it is There?

Being 'called' to full time ministry changes your life.
A person might think that it's going to be great and smell like roses and I am sure there are many days that this is true.

But, the enemy wants to come in, push you off track, cause distractions, bring fear, confusion and the list can go on. John 10:10 says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy..."

Those very things have been attempting to sneak in to my life but the Lord is here. I just need to call on His name and in a moment, the enemy is silenced and defeated!

March 21: It was less than 24 hours and I was scheduled to jump on a plane when I called my mother. I was running last minute errands for my trip back to Guatemala to finalize some details of a mission trip I would be leading in June as well as preparing for an extended stay in Guatemala sometime in the future. I was so excited to share with her that her granddaughter had officially received her driver's license. How exciting! Another milstone for a parent.

But the next few words out of my mother's mouth were ones I thought I would have NEVER heard from her..."I just found out that I have a brain tumor and they are sending me to the hospital right now. Call your sisters and tell them."

Shock, silences, disbelief, defeat, fear...processing, processing and processing...Over the next several hours of sitting in the hospital talking to doctors, viewing an MRI, watching the emotions of my parents and trying to hold it all together for them, I was fighting a spiritual battle inside.

At first I felt defeated. I was helpless and hopeless because of all the words I was hearing from the doctors.

The thought came to me, "What would I do and how would I respond if I were in Guatemala and heard this same news of someone there?" I would pray over them. I would call on the name of Jesus for healing, for peace, for victory, for joy, for health... I would fight for them against the enemy..."

My mother's situation was no different.

My Jesus has the same power here (in the U.S.) as He does there (in Guatemala) so Fight!

She said she wants to fight & believes in healing and that is exactly when I went to true battle for her, laying hands on her, praying for her and believing for her personal victory.

In Guatemala, I have personally seen a baby, literally, on her death bed, taking her lasts breaths and after some of my mission team members prayed over her, the next day she was in perfect health - that's the power of my God! On that same trip one of our team members was involved in a work accident and was blind in one eye. In third-world countries, hospitals, clinics and doctors are not on every street corner, they are very few and far between. All my teammate had was God, his sons and a teenage boy who prayed over him and believed that Jesus could heal him. He didn't stop praying for him until he saw victory! The very next day...his eye sight was perfect - that's my God!

Ephesians 6:10-20. There is victory in the name of Jesus (en el nombre Jesus - I recently learned this spanish phrase and use it when I can)!

Are you willing to put on the armor of God and fight?

The rest of John 10:10 says, "...I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the full."

So as I know that I and the rest of my family are praying, join us in the fight against the enemy and for my mother...believing and praying for complete and total healing, joy, no side effects from chemo and radiation, energy, good appetite, no hair loss, curly hair (mom wants curly hair and God is a God of details and wants to hear specifics from us too haha), peace, to receive encouragement from others and the enemy to be silent and defeated for good.

April 18: Thank you Jesus for being patient with me and reminding me that you have the same power 'here' as you do 'there'. Thank you for the continued healing, no side effects, joy, energy, laughter, encouragement and all that YOU are doing in and through my mother!!!

It's a New Year!

The holidays have come and gone and 2012 is already moving "full steam ahead."

Go4Him has been truly blessed as we continue to see God work in marvelous ways. The main focus over the past year has really been to get the word out about Go4Him Ministries so that children's lives can be changed. So we turned to the internet! Our website, http://www.go4him.org/, has been up and running since September of 2011. The number of people who view the sight as well as follow us on facebook (www.facebook.com/Go4HimMinistries) continues to grow. The word is beginning to spread as well as our prayer base and financial support.

From donations from this past year, Go4Him has been able to follow the example in Acts 1:8 and share Jesus by helping locally, nationally and internationally.

Haiti:
  • A water well was dug, producing fresh, healthy, water to an orphanage that serves over hundreds of children and the community. These children and adults had been washing clothes, showering and drinking contaminated water. Or, they would search for miles to find fresh water springs that were often dried up.
  • A generator was purchased so that the water well could continue to operate when there was no electricity. This is a common occurrence in the mountains of Haiti.
  • New skirts and shirts were purchased and delivered to Guilandy and other Haitian orphans. The smiles on their faces were priceless as they held their new skirts up to see what they would look like in them.
Guatemala:
  • A new relationship has been formed and faithful prayer support for DAR continues. God has given this organization a huge vision for orphans, widows families and communities. DAR has opened up a FREE school to children who were not getting an education. Through this school, these children are also getting a nutritious meal each day. Furthermore, parents are volunteering in the school to help cook, clean and work where needed which is giving them a sense of worth and purpose in their own community.
Haiti, Guatemala and Honduras:
  • Go4Him has partnered with Throneside and handed out over 250 new shirts from their 'Buy One Send One' program for orphans, children, teens and parents. The children's faces would have brought tears to your eyes. They were so thankful and humbled to receive a new shirt from people who truly care for them.
Palo Pinto County:
  • Water and other needed items were collected and donated for the fire fighters in the Possum Kingdom fires.
This past year, the Lord laid on my heart, specifically, to not limit Him! Go4Him was not only going to help meet the needs of oprhans and widows but there was more. God began opening my eyes to the need for missionaries, pastors, and ministry staff to get rest and time alone with God, their spouse and their family so that they can serve the people out of HIS wholeness. Mark 6:30-31 says, 'The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to Him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a change to eat, He said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."'

This 'place of rest' could generate an income to further the support of orphans, children and widows through Go4Him. Thus, Rest4Him was birthed!

I believe God was directing Rest4Him to Colorado. In September, multiple properties were viewed and on stood out above the others. In October, fundraising began. In November, an offer was put on the land and in December, the land was purchased and the deed was in Go4Him Ministries' name. When God is ready to move, He moves!

We have the following funds to raise and I believe God will move on the hearts of His people to provide:

  • Water Well - $3500
  • Septic - $3500
  • Retreat Center - $143,000
Looking back, it has been an amazing first year and I believe that there are many more to come!

My deepest appreciation goes out to you for your prayers and financial support in order to make a difference in so many lives. Thank you for believing in Go4Him. I pray blessings oer you and your family for your faithfulness.

Together we are changing lives one trip at a time!
